BF1 ORIGINAL FICTION
WHERE THE LIGHT STILL WORKS
He lost his job, his relationship and his home. Then he found a photograph his father had hidden. And began walking towards a memory he couldn't remember.
ABOUT THE STORY
Adam Harlan has four days left on his lease, no job and nowhere to go.
While clearing his apartment, he finds a photograph inside his late father’s road atlas. It shows Adam as a boy beside a lighthouse he cannot remember visiting.
On the back are seven words: This is where the light still works.
Instead of asking his mother about the photograph, Adam starts walking east from Ohio.
With little money, inadequate equipment and no clear plan, he searches for a place he hopes will help him understand what he has lost. Strangers offer kindness. Winter roads take their toll. Back home, the people who care about him are left with his silence.
A contemporary novel about grief, depression and a man looking for answers in a childhood memory that may not hold the promise he has given it.
