WHEN THE GROUND OPENS

A sinkhole opens beneath a remote Mexican ranch. Beyond a submerged passage, cave diver Lucía Benavides discovers forty-six people living in a world that was never meant to be found.

She was hired to survey the caves. But the expedition’s equipment, funding and demands suggest her employers came looking for something more.

Below ground, the hidden community’s leader, Nicté, sees Lucía’s arrival as a threat to everything her people have protected for generations. Above, the expedition wants every passage mapped and recorded.

Then the rains begin.

As floodwater rises and escape routes disappear, Lucía and Nicté must find a way to keep the community alive. Staying hidden could mean drowning. Reaching the surface could expose their home to people already preparing to claim it.

An adventure survival thriller about a discovery that puts lives at risk—and two women facing the consequences.
