THE WETHERALL VERSION

Phoebe Wetherall has spent seventeen years learning how to be the daughter her wealthy adoptive parents expect: grateful, accomplished and never too curious about the past.

With her eighteenth birthday approaching, a stranger appears outside her school. The woman calls herself Rosalind, knows details she should not know and seems strangely connected to dreams Phoebe cannot explain.

At home, questions are met with concern, restrictions and increasingly careful answers. An old letter remains out of reach. Family records are guarded. Even Phoebe’s plans for university become another decision someone else wants to make.

With her closest friend determined to help, Phoebe begins searching for the truth about the life she had before the Wetheralls. But every discovery threatens the family’s immaculate reputation, and the mysterious woman appears to be hiding a frightening secret of her own.

How much of her life has been written for her?
