Every morning at 5:47, Miranda Blake wakes with the taste of smoke in her mouth and the certainty that someone is trapped behind a locked door.

When the nightmares begin spilling into daylight, she seeks help from a Harley Street psychologist. Instead of relief, she finds memories of lives she never lived, a violent death she cannot explain, and a stranger who seems to recognise her.

As Miranda searches for evidence, the boundary between past and present begins to fracture. Her career is threatened, her relationship strains under the weight of secrets, and two men seem determined to make her remember something terrible.

But memory can be manipulated. So can guilt. And each discovery raises a more frightening possibility: perhaps Miranda is not only being haunted by what happened to her, but by what she once chose to do.
