True-crime writer Sebastian Merrick retreats to an isolated cabin to finish a book about Ada Thorne, who vanished from a small Oregon town twenty-nine years ago. The evidence is thin, the witnesses contradictory, and the accepted story offers more questions than answers.
Then someone starts correcting his manuscript.
