BF1 ORIGINAL FICTION
THE LAST RESTORATION
He came to restore a forgotten French villa. He never expected to fall in love with the woman haunting it. But every step towards bringing her back may be taking away the only world she has left.
ABOUT THE STORY
Tristan Fairclough came to restore a French villa. He never expected to fall in love with the woman haunting it.
Still grieving his wife, the conservation architect finds comfort in work he can understand: damaged buildings, careful measurements, things that can be repaired. Then he uncovers a hidden mural at Villa Bérenger.
The painting changes overnight. And the woman connected to it, Lucienne Bérenger, has been dead since 1912.
As Tristan searches for the truth behind her unfinished artwork and fractured memories, professional curiosity becomes an attachment neither can explain. But the restoration appears to weaken Lucienne. The work that could save the villa may destroy the woman he is beginning to love.
With deadlines closing in and secrets buried throughout the house, Tristan must confront a question no survey can answer: what does saving Lucienne actually mean?
An atmospheric supernatural romance about grief, forbidden love and an artist whose story was never hers to tell.
