BF1 ORIGINAL FICTION
THE BOY IN THE ATTIC
A boy discovers a ghost in his attic who makes him question whether his own life is real.
ABOUT THE STORY
Eleven-year-old Mikołaj Borowicz is beginning again in a weathered house in the Polish seaside town of Darłowo. His mother promises a fresh start. Behind his bedroom wardrobe, however, a hidden staircase leads to an attic that someone has tried to seal away.
A boy named Paweł is waiting there. He seems lonely, friendly and strangely familiar. There is only one problem: Paweł died in a fire decades ago.
At first, Mikołaj wants to understand the boy and the room. Then small uncertainties begin to spread through his ordinary life. Memories no longer feel reliable. His mother's attempts to protect him start looking like secrets. And every answer Paweł offers seems to raise a more frightening question.
As the attic's history emerges, Mikołaj must discover whom he can trust before doubt drives him further from the people who love him.
