BF1 ORIGINAL FICTION
SLEEP LITTLE BIRDIE
A girl has two mothers. One raised her. One died. And the dead one wants her back.
ABOUT THE STORY
Ten-year-old Sophie Merritt has two mothers. Laura gave birth to her. Claire raised her.
When Sophie asks Claire to adopt her, it feels like the next step in the life they have built together.
Then Sophie disappears for nearly forty-eight hours.
She returns with little memory of where she has been, except that she was with Laura—the woman who died when Sophie was a baby.
At first, the familiar lullaby and forgotten nickname seem almost comforting. But Laura wants the adoption stopped. And as Sophie insists she loves both mothers, memories of Claire begin to slip away.
With sleep drawing Sophie towards the presence claiming her, the family must find a way to protect a child caught between love and possession.
A supernatural psychological horror novel about motherhood, grief and a dead woman unwilling to surrender the years she lost.
