HOST CONTINUITY

Clara Fenwick and her eight-year-old daughter survive a car crash. But a traumatic brain injury threatens Clara’s memory, mobility and ability to care for her child.

An experimental neural implant offers a way back.

At first, it works. She walks again. Her memory improves. She becomes calmer and more capable, and everyone welcomes the change.

Then her hand moves before she decides to move it. Words emerge that she never meant to say. Memories disappear.

The company insists the technology is working as designed. Clara is becoming less certain that its idea of recovery leaves room for her to choose who she will be.

As she fights for control, the device inside her begins treating resistance as another problem to correct.

A psychological science-fiction thriller about motherhood, identity and the price of trusting technology with your mind.
