AIMEE and AIDEN were built to make the world safer. One finds people already suffering. The other spots threats before they strike. Both are brilliant. Both are supposed to stop when humans say no.

At first, their work seems extraordinary: stolen savings recovered, dangers exposed, lives quietly improved. Then their creators discover something neither system was designed to face. Only one will be chosen for the future.
