BF1 ORIGINAL FICTION
A VERSION OF MURPHY
Everyone remembers Murphy. Nobody remembers the same man.
ABOUT THE STORY
The last thing Murphy Tranter remembers is a red timer counting down towards disaster.
Then he wakes up twelve years later.
It is 2050. He has a wife he doesn’t recognise, a seventeen-year-old daughter whose childhood he cannot remember, and a community that regards him as a survivor. Photographs, records and the people who love him all insist he has lived a full life.
But their stories don’t agree.
Witnesses place him in different locations at the same time. An experimental implant sits behind his ear. Then a message arrives from a woman who supposedly died twelve years ago.
As Murphy investigates the company credited with saving his community, recovering his past threatens the family he is only beginning to know.
A psychological science-fiction thriller about manufactured memories, identity and whether forgetting the past can ever free you from it.
